Artist Statement: Field of Surrender has much, if not all, to do with uncovering and recovering our true nature. To paint this figure, I carved layers of paint to reveal the light beneath. Then I cheated and added white highlights, but the process of subtracting to reveal what is always there is still evident. I hope this means something valuable to you.
