Artist: Ginger Dall Egbert
Title: Crown of Benediction
Medium: in a red oak frame
metal leaf, oil, acrylic, and pigment
Dimensions: 5 x 8 inches
Price: $380
Artist Statement:
This painting symbolizes both woman's prayer for understanding, and Heaven's returning light. By using gold leaf, I hoped to evoke the sublime wonder of how prayer can transform sorrow & doubt into faith & joy. I believe that God wants to endow us with knowledge of our true, divine selves... a child claimed by the Creator of the Universe. By reaching upwards, God lays that crown of understanding upon us.
"Sweet hour of prayer
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since he bids me seek his face,
Believe his word, and trust his grace,
I'll cast on him my ev'ry care
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer."
- hymn by William W. Walford
