Artist Statement: This piece explores a visual representation of human experience. The feeling of working towards transformation but ending up back where you started is a common predicament that can feel like going in circles. This work expresses a hopeful alternative, illustrating that true change is not immediate and going backwards can provide the momentum necessary to move forward in a real way.
Artist Bio: Lauren Soffe is a visual artist living and working in Cottonwood Heights, UT. In 2008, she received her BFA from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is currently working with mixed media, fiber arts and combinations of the two. Her work is a way of transforming life experience into visual form. Throughout creative phases of concept, process and construction her art evolves into abstract pieces full of nostalgia and nuance.
