Artist Statement: Many children in rural communities in Peru travel for hours to reach their schools. The mountains and landscape create a beautiful place to learn, but the lack of infrastructure remains a challenge. Even so, children are always eager and excited to learn.
Artist Bio: At 81 years old, Esther Merino is a skilled Peruvian artist who specializes in arpillería, a traditional form of Peruvian textile art. Through each carefully handcrafted piece, she honors the culture and stories of her ancestors, preserving a vibrant Latin American heritage for future generations.
