Artist: Jillian Elder-Pope
Artist Bio: Jillian Elder-Pope is an interdisciplinary artist currently studying at BYU. By emphasizing aspects of her own identity that defy societal norms, specifically how her life and experiences have been shaped by her size and how society perceives and stigmatizes bodies, she aims to confront and disrupt the prevailing narratives about bodies in both art and culture. In doing so, she hopes to bring attention to the exclusionary standards that have dominated art history for centuries and promote a more inclusive and diverse understanding of the human form. She aims to highlight the tension between fitting in, both literally and figuratively, and confronting the constraints imposed by societal expectations.
