Artist Statement: In the quiet geometry of their trunks and the flicker of their leaves, I find a rhythm in this stand of cottonwood trees that speaks to endurance and shared time. These trees, often dismissed as common, hold a kind of wisdom in their stature. They are landmarks in the peripheral vision of the prairie—silent witnesses to wind, change, and return. These pieces aren’t just about trees, they are about the spaces we come back to, the overlooked guardians of landscape and self. Like the cottonwoods, we weather seasons. Like them, we stand.
Artist Bio: Tyler innovates by incorporating unconventional materials like asphalt (roofing tar) into his work. He experiments with oil and water-based paints, creating pieces with unique textures and aesthetics through spontaneous material reactions and meticulous layering, transitioning from vibrant to subtle palettes.
