Artist Statement: This painting is a quiet celebration of the still, sacred space that follows the storm. The storm isn’t always external. It can be the swirl of responsibilities, doubt, and inner noise that comes before showing up to a live painting session. It can linger even as I paint, whispering hesitations, quiet undercurrents of inadequacies and distractions. But when I carve out a place for wonder, and surrender to the process, something shifts. “In the Wake of the Storm” honors the moment when clarity surfaces, when I remember how grateful I am just to be here—to observe, to respond, to make, to play. I’ve come to see that this is part of the creative journey for me: not the absence of storms, but the courage to move through them by showing up anyway.
