Artist Statement: This painting depicts the woman with an issue of blood reaching through the crowd to touch the hem of Christ’s garment. I was drawn to the quiet desperation and faith in that moment—after years of suffering, isolation, and physical weakness, she moved toward healing with the smallest act of hope. I painted this work while experiencing my own migraine pain which made the story feel deeply personal. The red throughout the composition symbolizes both blood and pain, while the fractured, crowded atmosphere reflects physical suffering and emotional exhaustion. Her reaching became a meditation on faith in the midst of bodily affliction—the belief that even the smallest contact with the Savior can make us whole.
