Artist Statement: In April, my parents were on a horseback ride in the south hills of southern Utah and sent me photographs of prickly pear cacti in bloom. The flowers were soft & bright against the desert landscape. I wanted to draw them, so I did.
Artist Bio: Jesika Neemann is an illustrator and decorative artist based in southern Utah, where she founded Naturally Antique Art Studio in 2021.
Her work draws from the American botanical tradition and the natural world of the high desert, with an emphasis on hand-drawn detail and antiquarian sensibility. She works primarily in pencil and digital pigment, creating bodies of work rooted in observation and the craft of natural history illustration.
Jesika is the mother of six children and a collector of all things natural and antique.
