Artist Statement: I plucked this flower from the side of the highway on my drive home. Desert globemallow grows wild across southern Utah. Their petals are bright orange against the rusty earth. They also bloom at a place I affectionately call "the enchanted place," somewhere I've gone to find quiet ever since I was a child.
Artist Bio: Jesika Neemann is an illustrator and decorative artist based in southern Utah, where she founded Naturally Antique Art Studio in 2021.
Her work draws from the American botanical tradition and the natural world of the high desert, with an emphasis on hand-drawn detail and antiquarian sensibility. She works primarily in pencil and digital pigment, creating bodies of work rooted in observation and the craft of natural history illustration.
Jesika is the mother of six children and a collector of all things natural and antique.
