Artist Statement: My sister gave my niece, Indi, a caterpillar for Easter. When it became a butterfly, Indi let it go. It lingered just long enough for them to lay it on a white flower and take a picture. I drew it for that bittersweet moment: Indi, three years old, cheering and crying over her darling butterfly.
Artist Bio: Jesika Neemann is an illustrator and decorative artist based in southern Utah, where she founded Naturally Antique Art Studio in 2021.
Her work draws from the American botanical tradition and the natural world of the high desert, with an emphasis on hand-drawn detail and antiquarian sensibility. She works primarily in pencil and digital pigment, creating bodies of work rooted in observation and the craft of natural history illustration.
Jesika is the mother of six children and a collector of all things natural and antique.
