Artist Statement: This piece considers a quieter form of strength—one often overlooked because it does not insist on being seen. The figure (my daughter) is absorbed in a small, but no less important moment, held with care and without urgency. Around her, the vertical rhythm of the flowers suggests both enclosure and protection, creating a space where something fragile can exist safely. In remembering women more fully, I was drawn to the kinds of care women provide that are rarely named: steady, watchful, and given without recognition. The gesture here is small, but it carries weight.

Artist Bio: Keersten Jensen is an oil painter interested in the quiet weight of ordinary moments—the kind that are easily missed but difficult to forget. Her work often begins with something simple: light resting on a surface, a passing color, a scene that lingers longer than expected. Rather than documenting a place, she paints toward the feeling of having been there.

With a background in elementary and early childhood education, Keersten has spent decades teaching art to young students, an experience that continues to shape her sense of attention and clarity. Her paintings carry that influence—direct, observant, and unforced.

From 2018 to 2025, she studied as a full-time apprentice under Jeff Hein, developing a foundation in traditional methods. Working both outdoors and in the studio, she moves between landscape and figurative painting, with a growing focus on the lives of women in scripture and the quiet narratives of daily life.
