Artist Statement: Spectre captures the fleeting threshold between the seen and the unseen. In this surreal oil painting, a young girl glimpses a phantom presence just beyond her vision while her spirit drifts outward in astral projection. The work explores the fragile space between body and soul, reality and illusion—where haunting becomes both intimate and transcendent. It is a meditation on the liminal moment of awareness, when we realize that what watches us may not belong to this world at all.
Artist Bio: Kendra Hitchcock is a contemporary oil painter based in Utah. She grew up around crafters & creatives who encouraged the arts, and her first experience with oil paints was at the age of five. Kendra received her Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) degree, with an emphasis on drawing & painting, as well as extensive coursework in Art History and Digital Media. She is an international selling artist, with exhibitions in solo, group & juried shows as well as art auctions, fundraisers & community events.
Her work tends toward a melancholy tone which she captures through strategic lighting, rich color, and symbolically foreboding subject matter.
