Artist Statement: Nicknamed "The beautiful pearl of the Andes", the Valley of the flowers in Tarma is a tourist center characterized by the abundance of flower plantations. The women who gather these flowers are known as "Las Chismosas", due to their constant chatter during their working hours. (105 hours of work)
Artist Bio: Esther Merino works in the traditional art of "arpillería" (textile art), to represent traditional festivities and the everyday life of her ancestors. Every piece is handmade and unique. Esther is excited to share her Peruvian culture with the world at age 78 and bring a small part of Latin America to your living spaces.
