Artist Statement: I was inspired to sculpt this piece when I learned my husband would most likely be living out of state for an internship. Across the Divide explores intimacy suspended in space; connection is defined not by contact, but by the charged distance between two bodies. Set within mirrored, ornamental arches, the figures reach toward one another from separate planes, locked in a moment of almost-touch. Their gestures echo but never resolve. Though space divides the two figures, love is still felt.
