Artist Biography: Miriam Rawson was born on Christmas Day, the first child of an artist mother and rancher father. Their Southern Colorado farmhouse is where her art education began. She grew up with the scent of oil paints while watching her mother use them.

After art training at university, she used her skills as a quilt and cloth doll designer. Additionally, she became a display designer at a crafting store and eventually traveled to Asia as a designer/buyer of silk flowers. These experiences enhanced Miriam’s expertise, but they also prepared her to enter the world of fine art where she always yearned to be. Miriam’s preferred medium is oil. She loves the messiness and the intense color saturation.

Miriam’s work is currently in an exhibition at Utah Technical University’s Sears Museum “About Face” and at Springville’s current Annual Spiritual & Religious Art of Utah. She also sold her entry in the Springville Museum’s Spring Salon, 2024. In October 2021 through January 2022, Miriam participated in an exhibit called Red Dirt Girls: Peace’d Together, at the Sears Museum, Utah Tech University, St. George, Utah. Miriam’s work can often be seen at the JKR Gallery in Provo, Utah. Miriam participates each year in the Sears Invitational, where she consistently sells her work. She has participated in workshops by Qiang Huang and Emily Fox King. Miriam and her husband currently live in historical Santa Clara, a desert town in Southern Utah near Zion National Park, a region replete with art groups and venues.
