Artist Statement:
Love often brings thoughts of happiness and joy, but it can also be sloppy and downright messy at times. This painting has a dozen separate layers of paint and when sanded down you can see little bits of each layer show through. It's a lot like life - all of our experiences combine together to shape who we are and how we love. These sanded hearts are fun to do because we never know exactly how they will turn out - isn't that just like love?
