Artist Statement: What says love more than a bouquet of flowers? Probably a painting of flowers because they last forever. On top of that, poppies are a symbol of eternal life.
Artist Bio: Award-winning artist Julia Bringhurst Blake prefers to paint ‘What Matters’. Her interpretation of that is expressed through color and symbol as well as subject. She draws attention to the things that aren't things at all, but that can bring joy and hope regardless of means. She centers her work on the symbolic renewal in the seasons and natural beauty of New England and beyond. She is a spiritual and religious person who draws on themes of light and dark, redemption, purpose and God - both male and female.
