She now makes hand painted chalk art signs for Harmons Grocery and moonlights as a narrative realist who uses watercolor, oil, and mixed media to create introspective and vulnerable portrait and figurative work of people and animals which explore the wounds, beauties, and humor that make up life here on this earth.
Artist Statement: When I heard the theme, The Measure of Her Creation, my artist brain took it quite literally. I thought of all the ways my worth has been measured and mapped out by society, by religion, in relationship. I came into this life in a body that was already being measured for correct growth patterns while it simultaneously began to track and hold my experiences even before my birth. My lifetime has been a continuing constant of this trying to match standardized expectations and exploring my personal contours and edges. I’ve included representations of my past selves in the many different bodies I’ve inhabited, each measuring herself by many differing motivations.
