Artist Statement: Faith transition is an extremely personal dilemma. My experience has felt like a “domino effect” where questioning one core belief triggered a chain reaction and suddenly all my dominos had fallen. In re-examining and dismantling my faith system and worldview, I have found beauty. In this piece, the domino lying flat depicting a bird is an ode to my first tattoo of two scissor-tailed flycatchers. The duo of birds in flight represent inner strength and fortitude, yin and yang, and the dynamics of love and friendship with people in my life. This domino has one black dot, signifying the beginning— the first domino I will place in rebuilding my values and life.
