Artist Statement: This piece is a rendering of one partial mosaic that was found in the older parts of Istanbul, from the earlier Byzantine period. Exploring the mathematical qualities, the pattern was constructed and stained glass colors most reminiscent of that period were used. The pattern was made into a horseshoe arch shape, imagining what it could be as a window, looking through it, back in time while meditating on God's Infinite Balance and Wisdom.
