Artist Statement: I’ve been drawn to trains for as long as I can remember. My grandfather and great-grandfather were train drivers in Switzerland, and that legacy still runs deep. Here, a cargo train follows the Jordan River, bending through the valley beneath Mount Timpanogos in late-summer light. It’s working its way toward the lake, carrying weight, labor, and the steady, enduring rhythm of industry.
Artist Bio: Robert Fuerer is a painter drawn to places that carry memory, light, and lived experience. He earned his BFA in Oil Painting from SUNY Purchase College outside New York City, where rigorous studio training and close looking shaped his approach to painting from life. After years living and working abroad, Fuerer returned to the American West, reconnecting with family, faith, and the landscapes that now anchor his work. Whether painted en plein air or in the studio, his paintings balance observation with feeling, capturing moments of quiet intensity and inviting viewers into a slower, more attentive way of seeing.
