Artist Statement: This piece is a story of how women light themselves on fire to sew the seeds of their hearts into the world. Those works reverberate out into the culture and continue to grow and become a light for the future. Her mind is open and the connection to the divine flows through her. The skeleton is a symbol of the burdens of life and culture one must endure and persevere. Or, is the skeleton tucked onto her back a symbol of the encroaching crone? Life in its stages—all of the depth, strength, clarity, and collected wisdom acquired along the way.
