Artist Statement: Rabbits are known symbols of good luck, but even rabbits find themselves in storms seeking shelter. In some mythology and folklore they also represent rebirth and resurrection as well as abundance, growth, and the potential for new beginnings. Like the rabbit, we often find ourselves in the storms of life. While difficult and daunting at times, these times can remind us of our great worth and potential if we’ll hold on a little longer. Poppies surround the rabbit offering peace amidst the storm. The small mushroom is giving the rabbit some shelter – mushrooms are symbols of spiritual awakening, divinity, and immortality. They are delicate and small, but mighty in purpose and deed. With the mushroom’s protection, the rabbit can see more clearly over a great vista, seeking the pure waters—the living waters of Christ—a reminder that we can be healed by Christ’s Infinite Atonement. We may feel very alone at this tender time, but we’re always being watched over by our Parents, who love us dearly. The Moon’s bright light represents our Divine Mother’s watchful gaze shining light to us during the darkest parts of the storm. May you find shelter with the divine gifts of those who love you most while facing the storms of life.
