Artist Statement:
Shifting Shapes explores the vibrancy and unpredictability of the roles we'll play throughout our lives. There is beauty in these shifts of identity, in learning to recognize ourselves in grief and hope, in insecurity and courage, in homesickness for who we once were, and in recognition of who we are.
Artist Bio:
Emerging Utah artist Alex Merrill (b. 1994) has been creating art her whole life, with an emphasis in oil painting since 2022. After taking a break from art for a few years, she found that creation is not only beneficial, but essential.
