Artist Statement: I am fascinated by the horizon. I have memories of childhood looking across fields in Wyoming and seeing a farmhouse and outbuildings popping up over the horizon. I love those iconic forms and their simplicity. I've explored this idea of a simplified horizon a few different times over the years, and wanted to expand it to the frame because those fields seem to continue on and on.
Artist Bio: Anson Peterson Fillerup lives in Draper, Utah and works professionally as an architectural and interior designer. His artistic work is an extension of his philosophy when designing houses with a focus on simplification and nostalgic forms. Color and the way we relate to it has been a subject of exploration for years. Recent work has an emphasis on patterns and forms that trigger memory. Abstraction and architecture both have been an obsession since adolescence.
