Artist Statement: On the same evening that inspired The Road to Golden, I found myself surrounded by fields glowing in the last light of the day. The golden pastures were dotted with grazing cows, while the hazy purple mountains faded into the distance. It was so peaceful, I remember thinking, “I just want to be one of those cows.”
Artist Bio: Utah-based artist Valerie Boyes is captivated by the way light transforms ordinary places into something memorable. Through oil painting, she explores the relationship between atmosphere, color, and emotion, creating landscapes and interiors that invite viewers to look a little longer.
A lifelong artist, Valerie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from California State University, Fullerton and began her creative career in graphic design before returning to her first love of painting nearly two decades ago. After raising her family in San Clemente, California, she now lives and works in Utah.
Inspired by the majesty of the natural world and the quiet beauty of everyday interiors, Valerie seeks to create paintings that invite stillness and offer a quiet sense of hope and connection.
