Artist Statement: The smoke from nearby fires gave the sky a soft haze, and the last light of the day turned everything shades of pink, lavender, and gold. It felt like I was in another world. I couldn't wait to paint it.
Artist Bio: Utah-based artist Valerie Boyes is captivated by the way light transforms ordinary places into something memorable. Through oil painting, she explores the relationship between atmosphere, color, and emotion, creating landscapes and interiors that invite viewers to look a little longer.
A lifelong artist, Valerie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from California State University, Fullerton and began her creative career in graphic design before returning to her first love of painting nearly two decades ago. After raising her family in San Clemente, California, she now lives and works in Utah.
Inspired by the majesty of the natural world and the quiet beauty of everyday interiors, Valerie seeks to create paintings that invite stillness and offer a quiet sense of hope and connection.
