Artist Statement: I recently made the leap to live in Utah - firstly, because of the great art life, and secondly, because of the red rocks! Being from Maryland, I'd seen nothing like them and I loved how much unexpected color and life there is to find in the desert. This is a view of the Vermillion Cliffs near the Colorado River, along with a very tenacious tree that had made it through many rough years. I love the symbol of desert trees that grow in the hardest conditions. Their twisted bodies conform to their surroundings in order to survive, and I think we can all learn from them. I don't think I'll ever get tired of painting in the desert!
