Artist Statement: One of the things that is deeply instilled in me from growing up next to the ocean is both its constructive life giving nature and its equal unstoppable deconstructive nature. I have seen it tear large boulders and trees from a shoreline, pound coral to sand, and I have almost drowned in it. But I can still feel the soothing rocking of the waves sometimes when I lay in bed at night. As a woman, a creatress, a daughter of the divine, I have the power to give and sustain life and I also have power to deconstruct rock walls that have stood for centuries. The ability to create new goodness and tear down the barriers that stand in the way of the things God has set for me to do both come from the same power and they are both Divine.
