Artist Statement: My art begins with observation. Whether by taking pictures, drawing or noticing, I collect images and make observations as I live my life. I'm not motivated by ideology, but by what I see and notice. Subject matter happens - naturally - becoming a structure for play of color, form and line. In this painting titled “Purer Mind” the figure is relaxed, playing a guitar. She is confident, non stressed and in a familiar light filled space. I see the totality of this scene as representing the joy that artistic and creative processes bring to the lives of men and women - a natural and essential part of our mission and purpose here in mortality.
