About the artwork: This is a musing on my frustration and longing for my Heavenly Mother.
My frustration over Her erasure by men over the centuries.
Half the book torn out; young girls left wondering where they came from, Who they resemble, if they resemble God at all.
Tiny shards of truth held tightly.
She is so hidden and yet She is everywhere, in everything.
Inspired by a painting by Edouard Vuillard (1868-1940) called Modele otant ses bas (model taking off her stockings)
About the artist: I grew up in Southeastern Idaho, and began painting nearly every day in earnest after I had my first child in 2015. Over time (during nap times) my work evolved to include more and more figures, and now serves as a vehicle for my thoughts and feelings as I process the big ideas and concepts of my life. I can’t seem to make peace with the big things without turning them into some sort of visual explanation for myself. We lived in San Antonio, TX for several years while my husband completed his doctorate, and we now reside in Stonewall, Louisiana.
