Artist Statement: While traveling through Great Britain a few years ago, we had the opportunity to climb an ancient Iron Age hill fort known as British Camp. This site, nestled in England's Malvern Hills, became a place of quiet prayer and reflection for Wilford Woodruff after he felt prompted by the Spirit to climb to its summit. He was later joined by other early leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, who sought divine guidance there during the remarkable missionary efforts of the 1840s. As I stood among the wildflowers overlooking the valley below, I was struck by the beauty of the landscape and the sense that places of faith often become sacred through the moments that unfold within them.
Artist Bio: I am a Utah-based artist whose work spans sculpture, painting, textiles, and stained glass. After beginning my formal training under master sculptor Laura Lee Stay, I continued my studies at the JKR Academy with J. Kirk Richards.
I am drawn to places and moments shaped by meaning. Whether they be a landscape shaped by time, the experience of being human, or the subtle rhythms of the natural world, my work explores the ways memory, faith, and resilience become woven into the places we inhabit. Through layered color, texture, and careful observation, I seek to create work that invites viewers to pause, reflect, and discover beauty beyond what is immediately seen.
