Artist Statement: The shores of Utah Lake bordering my neighborhood have spent decades overtaken by invasive phragmites. Though striking in appearance, these reeds disrupted the lake's delicate ecosystem. This painting captures the landscape after their careful removal. From above, the sweeping lines left behind resemble scars etched across the water. To me they are a testament to the earth's remarkable ability to heal when given the chance. These lines tell a story of restoration, a convergence of human stewardship and nature's resilience.
Artist Bio: I am a Utah-based artist whose work spans sculpture, painting, textiles, and stained glass. After beginning my formal training under master sculptor Laura Lee Stay, I continued my studies at the JKR Academy with J. Kirk Richards.
I am drawn to places and moments shaped by meaning. Whether they be a landscape shaped by time, the experience of being human, or the subtle rhythms of the natural world, my work explores the ways memory, faith, and resilience become woven into the places we inhabit. Through layered color, texture, and careful observation, I seek to create work that invites viewers to pause, reflect, and discover beauty beyond what is immediately seen.
